Sri Lanka has been continuously inhabited for more than 2 million years, with the original inhabitants descended from Stone Age hunter gatherers. Immigration arrived from northern India around the 5th century BCE, forming the basis of the modern Sinhalese population. Tamils from the south of India arrived approximately two centuries later, settling in Jaffna.

Itinerary

Warmly welcome to Sri Lanka! Our tour guide will pick you up from the Bandaranayke International Airport at the scheduled hour and will be there with you throughout the stay being your guide, driver and your friend. The town is located in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka about a three-hour drive from Colombo and Negombo. It is a popular stop for tourists interested in its archeological ruins. The key attraction of the area is the Sigiriya Rock Fortress built nearly 1,600 years ago by King Kasyapa. The complex was the largest and most sophisticated single construction project ever undertaken in ancient Sri Lanka. There are also many attractions in close proximity to this site.

The second most ancient of Sri Lanka's kingdoms, Polonnaruwa was first declared the capital city by King Vijayabahu I, who defeated Chola invaders in 1070 to reunite the country once more under a local leader. In 1982 the ancient city of Polonnaruwa was inscribed on the UNESCO world heritage list.

The Sigiriya Citadel was a lavish compound protected by two moats and three ramparts. It was the private residence of King Kasyapa and his harem. The center of this complex was dominated by a menacing black column of rock 600 feet high around which he constructed lush gardens, ponds, palaces and pavilions. Halfway up this rock he built a massive gatehouse in the form of a sphinx-like liongiving his lair its name, Sigiriya–Lion Mountain. On the summit of this gigantic rock he built himself a gleaming white palace of unparalleled beauty. There, hidden from view, he lived in splendid isolation tormented by guilt and fear. Sigiriya consists of 1200 steps. The first part of the visit is a leisurely walk through the pleasure gardens. Then one starts to climb.

The Kandy city established in the 15th century was the last royal capital where 2500 years of royal rule ended. Many of the buildings are colonial and some are even older. The beautiful city, surrounded by hills and valleys, rivers, lakes and cascading waterfalls, boasts of the Royal Botanical gardens at Peradeniya. Many of Sri Lanka’s arts and crafts flourish here, particularly the silver and brass crafts as well as jewellery in traditional designs. This market town is also the economic focus of the surrounding tea-producing central highlands. Kandy is a popular stop during July/August when the annual Esala Perehera (holy festival) takes to the streets of the city. Kandy is an exciting place for shopping with souvenirs of wood, copper, silver, brass and bronze. Ceramics, lacquer work, handlooms, batiks, jewellery, rush and reed-ware too could be purchased. Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings and is a UNESCO world heritage site partly due to the temple.

Ramboda Falls is height of 109 m and height from Sea Level is 945m. Its ranking in Sri Lanka as the 11th Tallest waterfall. Ramboda waterfall is not a single waterfall and it has two stairs. The upside of the main road of Ramboda place, there is another waterfall.

This wetland spreads over 900 hectares of area and most of it covered with water. There are totally 64 islands in Madu Ganga. This tour will take around 2.5 to 3 hours and it’s advisable to bring drinking water, Sunglasses and hats. Some boats have adjustable roofing covers. This one-hour tour takes you on a boat safari through the primitive depths of the mangrove marshes in Madu River. Get a chance to see crocodiles, water snakes, tree snakes and wild boars in their natural habitat. Watch the cormorants; storks and many other avian life hunt for their prey in swift flow of Madu River. Visit the old Buddhist temple on one of the islands that dot the river liberally. Stop by another of the islands; which are the source of the cinnamon industry of Sri Lanka. Purchase some fresh, high-quality cinnamon to take home as a souvenir. Make sure to visit the outdoor fish massage parlor, where you can dangle your feet into a fenced part of the river to get treated by the massage fish.

Galle Fort explores this magnificent UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is a spellbinding mixture of Dutch, Portuguese and British history. The tour is part driven and part walking and covers the important highlights within the fort. This tour generally covers the whole Galle Fort area. This includes amazing views, knowledge on colonial history, interesting back stories, and detailed insights. You also get to know about the modern Sri Lankan culture and its connection with the colonial era.

Colombo the commercial capital of Sri Lanka and the largest city in Sri Lanka.Heavily influenced by its diverse populace and its rich history, Colombo’s culture, architecture, cuisine and historical attractions make for a multi-cultural melting-pot. Colombo was probably known to Roman, Arab, and Chinese traders more than 2,000 years ago. Muslims settled there in the 8th century and controlled much of the trade between Sinhalese kingdoms and the outside world. The Portuguese arrived in the 16th century and built a fort to protect their spice trade. The Dutch captured the city in the 17th century. The British made the city the capital of their crown colony of Ceylon in 1802.
